I keep looking to see if Audrey has posted to see how Alfie's doing after his surgery.

Jura is still under surveillance, as his patella was out again at last check. He's on Synoquin and Yumove supplements to maximise the joint development up till maturity, so we're not out of the woods yet, and surgery could still be an option.

I really hope Alfie is doing OK.....

Alfie is recovering well and is due his 8 week check up with the surgeon on the 18th Jan.   The first few days were awful ,he looked pretty sore and would'nt put his leg down at all. Going out to do the toilet was really bad as he never pooes in the garden so we had to drive him 500 yards to where he normally does it and let him limp about .  He never pooed until 6 dys after the op so I was a bit concerned as he was eating normally.   On the 4th day he put his leg down tentively  and improved therafter.  He was on metacm (anti-inflamatory) for 3 weeks . When I stopped it he limped a bit so I put him back on it for another week and stopped it again and he's been fine ever since.  He's only allowed 4 10min walks a day on a lead so he' s a bit frustrated now .( so am I ) We've been playing wee games ... hiding things in trees for him to find etc .   I have to exercise his brother and take care of the new pup so life is busy but enjoyable.   Alfie loves the new pup and he has been a good distraction.   When it gets a bit hectic pup goes in his crate for a sleep !    I hope Jura doesn't need surgery but I'm sure even if he did he would be alright.   Wise just to monitor him.

Audrey, thanks for letting me know. Good to hear Alfie's mending, sounds a bit of a traumatic journey though. Do let me know how he goes.
