that site is perfect thanks

mum is bb, both recieve genes from parents

?? stud dog ee, both recieve genes from parents

so in simple terms we could get a variety of solid coloured dogs with no black

Not entirely true, you coulld well get black - but that will be totally dependant upon the sire's black/brown gene. A red dog is ee yes but he will also have genes coding for black and brown. If he has a black gene then you could get black pups so long as those pups do not inherit the red gene also from their dam.!

Sorry, I know it's confusing

e.g

Dam is bbEe

Sire could be Bbee, BBee or bbee

Hope you understand!

Mother nature is a funny lady.

Our last litter, statistically speaking, should have been:

¼ Black, ½ Gold, ¼ Brown with at least half the black and brown ones with tan points......All the pups were golden.

Parents were

Dam: bbee

Sire: BbEe

you can never guarentee what you will get but you can usually tell what you won't get
