I heard on the radio news headlines this morning that the DogLost website has published some statistics about lost or stolen dogs, apparently they are getting up to 40 calls a day from people who have lost their dogs or who suspect they have been stolen from back gardens, kennels, disappeared on walks etc. They say the working breeds, particularly cocker spaniels, are the most popular and therefore the most at risk. They think they are taken for breeding or for working, with the trained gundog being much sought after due to an increase in interest in field sports recently. Horrible - it made me shiver and cuddle my dogs a little closer, I couldn't imagine how I would feel if I thought somebody had pinched them. Please everyone, be aware, and don't leave your dogs anywhere where they could provide temptation to some low-life dog napper. | |
