My rescue cocker bitch is now 3 years old. Yesterday she became clingy and anxious. She is eating normally. We had been out for a couple of hours in the morning, left the dogs, (also have a labrador) came back and she seemed fine, but when I sat down to have my lunch she tried to sit on my knee. Everytime either myself or my partner sit down she tries to get on our knee and cuddle up. She does occasionally sit on our knee but she is so clingy at the moment. Do you think we should be worried??

I am guessing here but she must have been spayed, I am stil wondering if she is still partially under the influence of her hormones in spite of this? A lot of bitches seem to have come into season over the last few weeks. Is she sniffing more than normal, perhaps wanting to hunt more than pick dummies ( a type of behaviour simular to blinking dummies ) and weeing a bit more. Ours get clingy when in the early part of their season even I dare to say the two spayed ones, but I can't of course be certain as to why, it's just as I say a guess.

Yes she has been spayed. She had 3 fits last year (2 in july and 1 in september) Vets did tests but nothing showed they said she probably had epilepsy. She has had no further fits. She always has to be carrying something and she circles an awful lot. Round the coffee table, round the dining room table, in fact round everything in the house, this is something she has done since we got her. She was very nervous when we got her 2 years ago, the slightest noise frightened her but she appeared to have got over that. She does not appear to be in any pain or discomfort. She is eating normally, she behaves normally on her walks. She just seems to have become anxious in the house. She seems unable to settle unless she is sitting very close to either myself or my partner.

Keep an eye on her, but it could simply be natural Cocker affection, some people would regard our Ollie as clingy, but he likes contact with us and following us around the house - and we'd not have it any other way.

Thank you for your thoughts on this. Surprisingly my partner went down with a bug a few days after Fudge became clingy, once he started to get better she went back to normal!! Perhaps she sensed it coming on.
