Hi Can anyone recommend a gundog trainer in the above counties. I am in Swindon and because of the cost of diesel would be reluctant to travel too far on a regular basis. I would rather go on a personal recommendation because I had a couple of lessons previously in Marlborough but was reluctant to return because of the way she handled the dogs and spoke to everyone like they were complete idiots. Basically at the moment Poppy is 6 months old and has an extremely high interest in birds and wants to chase them. Her hunting instinct is far stronger than Rio's was at this age and I am thinking of getting some help and direction on how to control and work with this properly while she is stil young. Thanks Sharon

Whilst I cannot recommend any of them as i don't know them, the gundog club has instructors in Glos, Hants and Wilts.

Hi Sharon, I can recommend Ricky Ross Moloney. You may have seen him giving the demonstration at the Game Fair last year. He is just the other side of Lechlade from you; well worth a small journey. He is not a specialist spaniel trainer but knows what is required (has a springer himself). He wont treat you like an idiot and will explain things properly; the whys as well as the 'what to do's'. If you need his contact number e mail me privately and I will send it to you. Good luck.

Lisa Allen runs classes in your neck of the woods. . http://www.thecanineguide.co.uk/index.html . Or there is Glyn Smith he is member on here. . http://www.workingcockersonline.com/apps/profile/58269032/ . I haven't been to either myself, but they are both local to you.

In your neck of the woods, I would strongly recommend Jeremy Organ at http://www.edgegrovegundogs.co.uk/ based at Cheltenham, he introduced my son to spaniels and trialling and was a great mentor and a gent. Keith

Hi Thank you to everyone for your recommendations. I went to see Glynn Smith (nr Chippenham) and found him really friendly and helpful. He understands what I want to achieve and I came away very happy. I now have the start of a plan and will be going back to see him again. Sharon
