That was me last night, following BBC's "Countryfile" (or Countryphobe as I 've heard it called :D ;) doing a piece on Gundogs.  It was all very superficial stuff of course, but it was in the same programme as an item on fly fishing on the Itchen, and not so long ago Julia Bradbury actually shot a pheasant on the programme.

Why was I so surprised you may ask?  Well, coming on a programme whose idea of "rural pursuits" usually means jumping off a cliff into the sea, or kite boarding or similar I am pleasantly surprised that perhaps the good old beeb has at long last recognised what country sports are really all about.  I might even watch it again :)

Oh good, I didn't want to be the only one that owned up to the fact that I watch countryfile!!  Joking aside, I really like the programme, apart from John Craven Investigates, I make the tea when that is on!!

Even more surprised to see Christine on there, being the trainer for the piece on gundogs.  Well done Christine, beautiful litte retriever pup!

I must have had some kind of intuition that there was going to be something worth watching on it :)  We stopped watching it a while ago as it annoyed us so much. I switched the tv on last night just before the gundog item started :) As you say Neill, very superficial stuff but it's a start - probably the end as well

Country file often appears to give an average towns persons view of the countryside.

I often watch it as the children like the bits they show of Adam's farm, so I saw it too - just wish it had been a bit longer.

So, we are really a bunch of closet Countryfile watchers on WCOL :)  I'm sure an episode will wind me up again in the near future but you never know.  If they replace John "Townie" Craven with Robin Page then I will admit to watching it publically :D  Just off to shoot some flying pigs for Ollie to retrieve

I agree with all the above. It was great to see something about gundogs on there, but I just wish they would give it a bit more depth, and not treat us as if we are still of an age to be watching Blue Peter!
