Hi, has anyone else had a problem with fleas. Well I am presuming its fleas. My labrador and cocker are both itching and biting at themselves. The labrador more than the cocker. I regular administer 'Frontline' to the back of their necks but this last few weeks both dogs are itching and biting. My labrador has problems with harvest mites in his feet. A friend told me she had heard that 'Frontline' is not as good as it used to be. Any advice would be gratefully received. I also have a cat who also gets deflead regularily but she is not biting at herself.

No flea problem with the dogs, however the cats are a different story
Harvets mites are common just now, you could try bathing their feet with diluted hibiscrub, we use it often for various things, or you could get a suitable shampoo from your vets

Hi, my girls have had a problem with fleas this year and we don't normally. After trying lots of traditional remedies, ie. tea tree & lemon spray, raw garlic in the food (which did NOT go down well!) a Denes Healthcare garlic spray & making my own rosemary infusion to calm their itching, washing bedding etc. etc. as well as picking the darn things off them and squashing them, I gave up and got a treatment from the vet called STRONGHOLD. It's a squirt it on the back of the neck treatment which you apply at 28 day intervals - 3 months supply is approx. £20. It's worked like a dream. I'm still washing bedding regularly & using the spray & rosemary stuff just as a preventative. but my lot are soft and like that sort of attention ...!

That is so strange I have been experiencing exactly the same problem this year. I use Frontline but within 2 weeks the fleas where back. I have never had this any other year it's just been this summer. It's pretty expensive stuff and to say it doesn't last more than 2 weeks is silly really! I also bought some spray from the pet shop to use on carpets, furniture, bedding etc. Katie I will be trying out your stronghold next time I visit the vets!

I use Frontline COMBO. Is this what you've been using Lukalily?? or is it just Frontline? The combo is so much better and I've not had any problems this year (touches wood that that hasn't tempted the little bu@*&*^ to make an appearance!! )

I use frontline combo too and haven't had a problem but I don't have a cat, which I think makes quite a difference from what I've heard, and also our house is all laminate floors, washable or wipeable everything, which helps as there's nowhere for them to lay their eggs. Feel all itchy now! lol

Hi, thanks for all replies. I have been using the ordinary Frontline, so I will try the combo. The cat is an indoor cat so I do not think she is the problem. I will have a word with the vet and see what he thinks too. Carol
