As you may have noticed, I enjoy taking pictures of my dogs.

Some of them have been turned into pieces of artwork, in this case Pencil Studies, one of them is now part of a set of Greeting Cards

Pencil studies are one of my favourite art media, done well, as these are, I really think they capture the spirit of the subject.

If you are interested in seeing more of this artists work, here's a link to her site

I have seen her work before :D she has done some work for a group on facebook 'Tangye the black lab' in Afghanistan group. She has done some cards for their auction for a really good cause and a fantastic artist.

Beautiful photographs Andrew :)

The artwork is very well done but I just prefer your photographs - I guess it is the colour, the shine on the coat and the vitality, somehow.

(I don't want to offend anyone, just my opinion)

You do take a good piccie Andrew :) but then I am rather biased towards a black dog

They are beautiful Andrew!

I had a picture commissioned of my pointer in pastels for my husband for his birthday and I am just commissioning a sculpture of him as well.

I also had a picture done of Breezybrook Trouper for my friend Jacquie

I love them and think it is a constant reminder, particularly when they have passed on.

Mmmm, chalk pastels, not one of my favourite media.

Here's a couple of examples of chalk pastels that have been done from some of my pictures for others.  The first one is Izzy as a pup, and again, is being used as a greeting card.  The second was a commission piece.  The third was done for a friend from a picture taken when we were out rabbiting.

I agree Andrew, the pencil drawings of your cockers are far better than the pastels.

However, I think that the artist has captured Fin really well in pastels.

The picture of Trouper is in coloured pencils, which I liked, but I think I prefer the normal led pencil ones.

The pastels do work well with your Wire Ali, I must agree.

I think the other one looks very "flat", but that's probably to do with the fact it's low resolution picture of the original.

What is the sculpture being done in? I'd like to see a picture when it's completed.

I think she is doing it in clay, although, I must admit I am not sure.  I will have a look when I get home and see if I can post the link.

I wouldn't say she is to everyones taste, however, I tend to like the more informal type of sculpture!

Art does n't have to be to everyone's taste Ali, it's a very personal thing.

Have you any seen any of Keith Sykes' work? I think it's absolutely brilliant.

They are very good are n't they.

Once I've made my mind up about which picture of Spike to use (that's the chap on the left), I'm having a commission done.

My husband is an artist; here is his website:

http://www.davewhite.org.uk

He does landscapes, seascapes and animal portraits. He has painted a couple of working cockers (just over halfway down the index page of his site, on the right hand side).

He was a Finance Director in the Defence Industry but then got made redundant; he turned to painting, and this is what resulted. He has also since done his Cert.Ed. and teaches art to adults at the local college, and does demonstrations at art groups.

Thank you, Ali!! He's painting two Staffies at the moment. Got some collies to do next, I think.

What seems to separate Dave's paintings from some others is that his paintings are three dimensional,  not two. They come out of the painting towards you, rather than being "flat" like a photo. It makes the animals really come alive.
