I don't know about you, but in our house we seem to discuss the topic of pooh quite a lot, especially even more so at the moment with two litters. For example when I was on the phone to a friend the other day, my husband felt compelled to say, 'wow there's a cracking pooh in the puppy pen, do you want to see it?..' and when lunching with other breeder friends the topic will always end up on pooh some where along the line. I found it highly amusing therefore last night, when my OH went home to do the dogs during our work shift. He was clearing up 'pooh' in the puppy run, when on bending over his mobile phone fell out of his top pocket into said pile of pooh, at which point the outside light bulb blew........so he couldn't see where he was treading either.....having retrieved his phone, he didn't say how exactly, he then saw fit to run it under the tap to clean it off.............need I say more:lol: yes you guessed it, mobile phone out of action. My flatcoat also has a lovely habit of picking up pooh and bringing it to me:tongue: what an endearing quality for a retriever. Anyone got any other delights to share?

When I can stop laughing long enough to type..Poor Phil...
I would say the daftest thing I’ve done is while out walking and using my bright green poop bags lol
Is I got my whistle caught up while tying the bag, err,:(
so I went home gave it a good scrub and disinfected it, Then went outside and swapped it with Darren’s lol
he caught me in the act and i had to buy him a new one:D

well i had to add to this didnt i we had the brilliant idea (from friends you know who you are)) of lining out all the kennels with expensive lino!!!!!!!!!!!!!! brill idea but be warned if you try to save money by buying cheap wellies with no tread on the bottom and try and disinfect the kennel with a mop and 11 labrador pups trying to tip you over, its like a slow motion swan lake on ice and thank goodness i didnt break anything, ( by the way the pups are fine) i have had an hour or two in a darkened room so i am fairly fine now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and i have got a better pair of wellies!

this is a hilarious topic, the best for us has to be the time Rumpole who has never messed in the house ever, even as as a puppy, reacted to a visit from my ex's parents when they came to pick up the kids. We are all being polite and exchanging small talk when inexplicably Rumpole crouched and performed the perfect curly wurly right next to John and opposite the inlaws.
John retched, I went running for the nearest bag to clear it up and hear the words from my exes father "I see you shop at Tescos now" I worked for a rival store at the time

All of those are hilarius!! I haven't had anything like that yet!!
Although I do feel that life evolves around picking up pooh, washing up after pooh and cleaning pooh off puppies!
I currently have with me, 1 pointer 5 cockers and two labs and as you can imagine, I am running out of pooh bags!!

Don't worry Ali, your time will come, just imagine if your pups had been wearing pooh instead of puppy food the other day,

I've ruined 2 whistles up to now by them dangling in 'poo' as I try to clean it up with a bag. I'm a wuss so I threw them both away.

I can sympathise on that one Rachel. We were out on a walk the other day and I went to pick up after one of ours, realised I didn't have a bag so asked Ian for one. Duly got given a bag, bent to pick it up and wondered why my fingers were feeling warm - huge hole in bag!
I spent the rest of the walk looking for as much long grass and big leaves as possible to wipe it off - ewwww

That happened to me once, just before a training class with my flatcoat, the thing is, big dogs do accordingly sized deposits, so the whole hand gets warm not just the fingers:ohmy: I have just realised that I seem to be able to talk a lot about pooh, I wonder if that says something about me LOL

As you all seem so experienced I thought I would ask a daft question. Bpth of my cockers (late & present) seem to have the knack of doing it in a trail? Never do they do it in one place but seem to delight in walking along as they are doing it leaving a nice little line, which when in the garden is fine but whilst out walking, and if a little on the soft side, is really hard to get up with one bag! Do they all do that?

I have two cockers who are "Path Poohers" have to do it in themiddle of the path in the woods, Rupert is a "High Rise Pooher" has to balance it on object a foot off the ground, the rest go into bushes to do it!!

Why do dogs poo more when exercising, I know I don't
Every time I leave the house with the dogs I have to take loads of bags, I've been caught too often having to pic up poo with other peoples litter 'cos my bags have already been used i.e. crisp packets, paper bags even an envelope once
Another interesting poser..... John was never able to poo pick because it made him retch, but since I changed to a natural diet there is very little odour and also smaller packages so now he can join in the fun!!
Helen
just re-read this and its the dogs diet that changed not mine

That always blows my brains too, Ghillie and the girls will go several times when on a run, I do wonder where they get it all from:lol:I used to find it so embarassing when Ruby would stop to go in the middle of doing some dogging in, what was worse was I didn't realise she was going and thought she had just done a brilliant sit to the stop whistle:wink:
